The client

DMB Solar were engaged by a large pen manufacturer to install a solar panel system on their production facility in Buckinghamshire.

The brief

DMB Solar was contracted to design, supply and install a 41.28 kWp solar PV system across four agricultural buildings at a farm in West Sussex, mounted on top of barns. The system combined 96 panels, four commercial inverters, and four 10 kWh battery storage units, connected via an MCS-approved roof-mount system. This project was eligible for funding under the Government agricultural solar fund, part of the Farming Investment Fund.

Outputs

Each building’s orientation was modelled individually to maximise generation, achieving an estimated annual output of 41,949 kWh and a performance ratio of 89%. The installation is projected to offset approximately 19.7 tonnes of CO₂ per year, equivalent to the emissions of five UK homes, with a projected payback of 6–8 years.
